We drive by the local high school on daily basis, and it is of great interest to our little Anna Banana. She has been talking about how she has never been to a football game, so we decided it was time to support our Tigers. Anna was super excited all week, and super cute at the game. She loved watching all the big kids, and enjoyed cheering on the team. FUN!

Anna is usually up first and William just about jumps out of my arms trying to get to her when I bring him into our room. Anna has started a soccer class this summer, which she loves. We had to pick up her uniform right before her first practice and get her changed in the bathroom. I had William in one arm and was trying to shimmy Anna into her clothes. I thought all was good until after class. We were walking to the car when I noticed Anna had both legs in one side of her shorts. It looked like a miniskirt; just right with the beaded socks and ponytails. ;)

We celebrated with family as Will was baptised. I love this picture because Anna is so curious about what is going on. What you can't tell from the picture is that Anna was leaning on the pedestal, which was making the water splash, which was making my feet wet! I didn't know that it was Anna at the time, but I remember thinking, "Wow, Pastor Eric is being a little messy with the water!" :-)

Our Mother's Day Walk

I got to celebrate Mother's Day a little early this year. Jon took off of work on Friday afternoon in order to meet me and the kiddos for lunch. We also took a really nice stroll through the Riverwalk. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the time as a family... but I can show you some of the fun of the afternoon. Anna's class hosted a Mother's Day party this afternoon. The highlight of the gathering was the song the girls sang for the moms. It is hard to believe that a song with McDonald's in it brought tears to my eyes, but it is even more difficult to believe that Anna is getting so grown up! YIKES!

Above, Anna is checking out the mountain lions. The preschoolers were able to watch the zookeeper feed the mountain lions. Fun stuff!

Each preschooler was offered the chance to pet or hold this python. I was shocked that Anna even got close to it, and completely blown away that she touched it! She is getting to be a brave girl!

Anna got to pick out her first "real" bike last weekend. She had a choice between a princess or Dora bike. Surprisingly, she chose the Dora bike... very cute! She is very independent and seems to have inherited my lack of coordination, so teaching her how to pedal and steer at the same time will be challenging.

I fell behind with putting this together. All of the pictures are from his seven month birthday, but I just haven't had the time to stick them in the collage. At seven months we have a ton of drool, lots of new babbling sounds, the desire to want to feed himself with his spoon, and a fascination with his own hands. William's personality is starting to blossom... he is showing a little frustration when he wants to stand, when he can't get into a sitting position, or when a certain sister takes away toys. Anna has become an even more interesting part of William's day. He loves to play peek-a-boo with his sister, and she is the reason for many of his giggles throughout the day. :-) What fun!

Will is rolling, sitting, singing, eating solids, and finally sleeping a good chunk of the night. In the picture of William's tummy, you can see a little rash that has been persistant for the past few weeks. We have a well-baby appointment on Tuesday, so I'll be sure to ask about it then. Poor guy... he has been cursed with our sensitive skin!

William has a little goodnight-dance he does when we put him down for bed. Usually when he is put in his crib, his arms go up, he gets a big smile on his face, and he wiggles vigorously back and forth... hence the bald spot that still is present on the back of his head. This week, Anna was the "Shining Star" at preschool. Jon, Anna, and I worked together to produce the poster all about Anna. We included pictures of things Anna likes to do (dress fancy, color, read, etc), people Anna loves, places Anna enjoys, etc. Today, Anna proudly presented her poster to her friends at school. She had the pencil/pointer out and pointed to the photos (with her back to the crowd) as she explained what she was doing and who was in each picture. She was adorable and seemed to be a natural with the pointer. Maybe we have another teacher in the making? ;)

Happy Valentine's Day (2)

Today was an exhaustingly fun day. We had three Valentine's Day parties to attend; which means we had three times the sugar than the normal day. The first party was to make valentines for the residents in a retirement home. Anna placed stickers, traced her name, and drew pictures on the valentines she made. The kids were all busy and finished over forty valentine's... with the help of the moms ;). Our second party was for pre-school. The kids enjoyed a craft, a modified game of alphabet musical chairs, and some sweet treats. The last party of the day was just for fun with some friends. The kiddos exchanged valentines and snacked on more sugary sweets. :0 We all made it home just in time to enjoy a dinner made by Jon. What a day! Above are the valentines that Anna and Will gave out... along with some out-takes (below).

Splishin', Splashin', and Slidin'

We spent a super-fun weekend at the Wilderness in Wisconsin Dells. Grandpa and Grandma Sorenson invited the gang to stay in a multi-family cabin. It was such a blast; we played games, hit the waterpark, ate well, and laughed our way through the cold weekend. The only way it could have been better is if Alison, Dustin, Sara, Jenny, Colin, and Conner could have joined us. You were all missed, but I know you were a little scared of Jon's cannonball... next time for sure! ;)

Below is the picture taken after we (including brave little Anna) went on a really scary slide. It was pitch black during the whole ride. Anna loved it and didn't seem scared at all as she sat on Jon's lap. I was reaching across the tube holding on to her arm very tightly; I was so afraid that she was going to fly out of the tube. It was a blast; I was so proud of our little dare-devil. Don't mind our pale, pale, pale skin... you know how it is during winter. ;)

Her concentration just kills me. I think I remember that being Jon's expression when he was studying in college.

At pre-school, Anna has been working on tracing her name. I'm not sure how I really feel about her already learning that... I thought she'd practice all of the motions of the letters, etc. However, she loves to "write". So, I found a nifty website that creates the dots for her name; now she can practice without me having to make all the dots! It's a win-win situation! Mrs. Lewis, Anna's teacher, held conferences on Thursday. I wasn't sure what to expect out of a preschool conference, but it was really nice to hear what Anna had been up to. BRAG ALERT: I was glad to hear that Anna is doing very well; Mrs. Lewis thinks she's a smartie! (But we already knew that... right Auntie Chelsey?)

Jon and I finally got a new mattress. We have been talking about how great it would be to be able to snuggle in on Saturday mornings with the whole gang (minus the dog). Here is a really early-morning pic of all of us the first morning after it was delivered. All four of us tucked in with plenty of room to spare... really a king size mattress is a dream. Don't mind our bedheads, but please take a second look at Jon's stylish do... yes ladies, this is what I get to wake up to every morning! ;)

On Saturday, we spent some time with our neighbors who are moving away. Anna and Carter have been having playdates with each other for over a year, and I know Anna will miss her friend. Carter's parents hosted their last playdate at the local Lifetime Gym and the kiddos were able to run, bounce, and scoot together for one last time. The afternoon was topped off with cupcakes and pizza... what could be better? It was fun for all the parents to be able to watch our kids interact and have some fun.

Disclaimer: Today is a stay-at-home day for us. I have laundry and cleaning to catch up on so Anna was thrilled to be able to dress herself in whatever she chose.

At Will's last doctor appointment, the doctor gave the go ahead to start cereal and then solids. I'm going to do this slowly because he really doesn't need it for nutrition until six months. However, we were all excited to see how William would react to cereal because he has been watching us while we eat. Once he got going, he didn't want to stop! Anna even got to feed him a couple of spoonfuls. She also picked out the pink spoon for Will's first meal. ;)

So, I couldn't take looking at the chunk of uneven hair on Anna's head (from when she did a little self-haircut). We made an appointment at a nearby salon on Thursday with the same stylist who fit us in the day after the incident. Anna looked so cute in the chair and she sat very still during the cut and style. The one side is still a "hair" shorter, but we're getting there!

Snapshots from our holiday season

We made the rounds to visit our families this year. The holiday began with an early visit to our house from Santa; he must have known we had to leave on Sunday. ;) We started out in Milwaukee where we watched football games on Sunday and enjoyed the Yearly Christmas Eve brunch with Grandma and Grandpa Davis and their long-time friends. From there, we were off to Chatfield. We were entertained by watching Anna sing the Christmas Carols in church... too cute! We returned home on Thursday; after Jon and Anna fought off a stomach bug. (SO sorry to Andrea and Sara... they caught it too!) A few days later, we celebrated Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Davis, Mark, Ellen, Jack, Oma, Vern, Karen, and Katlin. It is hard to believe the holidays are over; time really does seem to slip by more quickly these days. Anyway, here are a few snapshots of our holiday season!

Anna really enjoyed decorating the tree earlier in the season. We went with an artificial tree for the first time. I have always loved our real trees, but it was really nice to not have needles all over this year!

Oh... the Christmas Card

Well, I thought we could make this an annual post. Our Christmas cards are out... except a few for which we still need addresses. So, now the real treat! The Out-takes! I thought last year's card was hard to capture, but trying to coordinate two little ones in front of the camera was an even tougher job. William is usually a pretty easy going babe, but he had an ear infection the week that I needed to get this done. A crabby baby plus a wiggly pre-schooler equals a tired mommy! ;) Anyway, I was giggling while I was looking through all the funny faces. Exersaucin'

The exersaucer was a big hit when Anna was a baby, so I was excited to see how Will would do with it. I dug around my picture files and found a video of Anna from December of 2004. (We were in St. Louis at this time.) You'll have to ignore the overly high-pitched voices from the first time parents... ;)

Will also likes the exersaucer, but not as much as I remember Anna liking it. He gets really excited when he gets the toys to make noise. You'll see I've learned to stay quiet while video taping... in order to avoid embarrassing replays later on. ;) I can't believe Will is ready for this toy. Anna seemed so old when we introduced her to it and Will still seems like such a little babe...

A Trolley Tour

On Friday night, we joined other families from my moms' group and enjoyed a tour of the Christmas lights from the comfort of a heated trolley. Anna and her friends were very excited about the trolley and the lights... they didn't even notice how crowded it was! ;) It was a nice night... we enjoyed the company and the lights.

Dippin' Pretzels

We haven't had a chance to do most of our baking yet, but we are slowly getting started with Anna's help. We had fun dipping our pretzels... Anna's favorite part was the sprinkling... and the sneaking little tastes of chocolate. :)

Will was very happy after bathtime the other day. So, I grabbed the camera and caught a few of his cute expressions. Ooooo, I just can't get enough of those lips!

Kick and Play

Will has started to enjoy his bouncy chair. It is so cute to hear him squeal as the colors light up and the music plays. Anna likes to help him bounce, so we have to keep an eye on her!
